A Cuban architect from Miami behind the transformation of Paris for the Olympic Games.

Ileana Rodríguez, a Cuban architect in Miami, leads the accessibility efforts for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cuban architect Ileana Rodríguez, residing in Miami and graduated from Florida International University (FIU), has been the lead consultant for accessibility for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Rodríguez owns her own architecture firm, I Design Access, from which she promotes inclusion and accessibility in urban design.

At the age of 12 in Cuba, she had to stop dancing and start using a wheelchair due to a spinal malformation.

She grew up and trained professionally in the United States, graduating as an architect in Florida, and since then she has dedicated her life to improving accessibility for people with disabilities.

One of his biggest challenges was adapting the iconic Champs-Élysées, where the surface had to be modified to make it accessible for Paralympic athletes. Additionally, he worked on the planning of two new completely accessible stadiums for Paris 2024.

This woman is also a sports enthusiast. She is a Paralympic swimmer and was a member of the United States team at the London 2012 Games.

"Immigrants must appreciate that we are in the United States, in a place where we can dream and fulfill our desires, thanks to education and effort," he said to Telemundo 51.

Although she has participated as a consultant supervising projects of various sizes in Olympic/Paralympic stadiums, her work is not limited to sporting events; she has also modified airports, hotels, health centers, and commercial buildings in the United States, Europe, Asia, and America.

The projects of Cuban-American architect Ileana Rodríguez aim for changes to be permanent, benefiting all of society.
