A Cuban was arrested in Louisville, Kentucky, following an incident in which he injured two people, a woman and a man, in the St. Denis neighborhood.

Identified by the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department (LMPD) as Ernesto Ortiz Díaz, 53 years old, the arrest report states that he was involved in an incident where he chased a woman on Lynnview Drive last Thursday, August 29, around ten in the morning.

According to WHAS 11, the local newspaper that reported on this incident, the reasons that led to the aggression are still "unknown."

This outlet reports that due to the persecution, the woman fell into a neighboring yard, and it was at that moment that her attacker took the opportunity to "stab her, hit her, and cut her" with a knife.

This event was witnessed by a man who was on his porch, just across the street, and he went inside his house, grabbed his nunchucks, and ran outside to try to stop Díaz.

After several blows, the suspect turned around and "went after him," causing the man to fall backward, at which point Díaz jumped on him and stabbed him just above the heart.

Two other people witnessed the attack and helped, one of whom applied a chokehold on Díaz, while the other managed to take away the knife.

LMPD arrested Díaz shortly after and set his bail at $100,000. Meanwhile, he appeared before the court for his arraignment on August 31.

At the time of writing this note, the health status of the victims was unknown.

A month ago, also in Kentucky, a Cuban doctor died after being shot by LMPD officers in front of his family.

The victim was identified as Yoel Nápoles Ravelo, 32 years old, by his family members, who witnessed his last moments alive. The man was armed with a knife when he was shot dead by the officers, according to reports from several local media outlets.

In August, a 32-year-old Cuban identified as Indira Almaguer was murdered by being stabbed in the city of Louisville, at the hands of her ex-partner, Marcelino Fonseca, who is also of Cuban nationality.

That same month, another woman of Cuban nationality died in Liverpool Lane, Kentucky, as a result of several gunshots from her partner, a man of Cuban nationality who committed suicide after committing the crime.

The woman, identified as Yailyn Casales, lived in a small apartment in the mentioned neighborhood in the Bon Air area, along with her young son.
