The Cuban pitcher Raisel Iglesias extended his scoreless streak in Major League Baseball on Sunday, earning the win as a reliever in the game between his team, the Atlanta Braves, and the Toronto Blue Jays (4-3), which was decided in extra innings.

Iglesias worked two innings to reach 34.1 without allowing clean runs and continues to climb positions on that historical list among pitchers born on the island, according to specialized journalist Francys Romero.

Romero posted on the social network Facebook that -so far- the person born in Isla de la Juventud is in third place, although only behind Luis Tiant (41.0 in 1968 and 40.0 in 1972), who achieved impressive streaks on a couple of occasions.

At this moment, Iglesias, one of the best closers currently, has a positive record of five wins and one loss, with an exceptional ERA of 1.18.

The Braves are in second place in the East of the National League, thanks to 78 wins and 65 losses, tied with the New York Mets (78-65), who are only surpassed by the Philadelphia Phillies (85-5).
