Cuban in Miami dedicates rap poetry for a free Cuba.

The Cuban Lexter Savio dedicates a rap to the fight for a free Cuba, reflecting the pain and sacrifice of generations of Cuban emigrants.

The Cuban Lexter Savio, a young man currently pursuing a PhD in Physics at Florida International University (FIU), dedicated a rap poem to the fight for a free Cuba.

Savio's poetry explores the painful experience of several generations of Cubans who have emigrated in search of freedom.

It starts with those who escaped in the 60s with Operation Peter Pan, goes through those who fled in the 80s during the Mariel exodus, the rafts from the 90s, and the more recent migrants who cross borders on foot.

His verses are filled with nostalgia and laden with social criticism. The poem reflects the sacrifice and resilience of Cubans who, over decades, have sought a better life outside the island.

"A Cuban not long ago left through the border... and that last one was me," concludes the poem, in an emotional personal connection of Savio with the migration crisis that the island is suffering.

The young man uses the sound of rap as a means to express the longing for freedom shared by many Cubans in exile, combining art and activism in a powerful message of resistance.

Savio is known for publicly denouncing the presence of a group called "Revolutionary and Marxist Students" at his university in Florida.

These young Marxists at FIU hung posters in August urging for a "revolution" in Miami due to the worsening living conditions.
