The rock legend Jon Bon Jovi convinced a woman not to jump off a bridge in Nashville, the capital of the state of Tennessee.
The police confirmed that he went to help a woman who intended to commit suicide on the Seigenthaler pedestrian bridge on Tuesday night.
A statement published on the Twitter account of the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department states that "they helped persuade her to come down from the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety."
"It is necessary for all of us to collaborate to keep each other safe," added the head of the Department, John Drake.
In a video of the incident captured by a surveillance camera, Bon Jovi is seen walking across the bridge with several photographers and cameramen from his team when he notices the woman standing on the ledge facing the river.
The legendary rock singer, along with another woman, approached and started talking to the suicidal person until he finally helped her jump off the ledge to put her in safety. Shortly after, he hugged her.
A close source reported that the legendary artist was filming a music video on the public bridge when everything happened.
A police spokesperson told CNN that the woman, whose identity was not revealed, was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Bon Jovi started his JBJ Soul Foundation in 20026, which according to its website, works "to break the cycle of hunger, poverty, and homelessness" through various programs and supporting community organizations.
