"Total destruction": Cuban resident in the U.S. shares her experience in a hotel in Varadero.

A young Cuban woman living in the United States, known as @solanssamper1998 on TikTok, shared her disappointing experience at a hotel in Varadero after visiting the island.

In a series of three consecutive videos uploaded online, he referred to the poor quality of the services and food at the venue, where he went with his parents and his brother, who live on the island.

In her account, the young woman mentioned that after choosing to serve herself some macaroni and water, since the rest of the food did not look appealing to her, she realized after smelling it that it was "spoiled." She decided to inform the hotel staff about the state of the food, explaining that she would not eat it because it would "make her sick." Despite this, the staff's reaction was one of apparent surprise according to what the creator recounted.

But the criticisms didn't stop at the food; he also mentioned the lack of hygiene and the presence of "cockroaches and flies" in the place, describing the venue as a "total destruction."

In his testimony, he also lamented the decline of the Cuban resort, stating that it is "not even the sole of the flip-flop" of what it used to be.

User reactions in the video comments ranged from support to criticism. One comment lamented the situation: "Thank you for sharing the experience, it’s no longer the dream we longed for, what a shame." Another user shared a similar experience: "I was in the keys and came back super sick, 15 pounds lighter." Meanwhile, some pointed out that these problems are not new to the region: "Varadero has always been like this, why go there? They should take their family to Punta Cana, that's where you really enjoy yourself."

Others expressed their surprise at the details provided, asking, "Which hotel are you in?" or commenting in a concerned tone, "I saw it, how horrible." There were also criticisms of the video creator, suggesting that her opinion was influenced by having lived outside of Cuba: "Everyone after living in Yuma becomes all snobby OMG hahaha after not even having anything to eat there."

The situation described by @solanssamper1998 -who in March surprised her family on the island with an unannounced visit after two years away- is not an isolated case, nor is her criticism uncommon. In August, another Argentine content creator went viral with a video where she showed the food served to her in a hotel in Varadero, generating similar reactions regarding the quality of tourist services in Cuba.
