The brother of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and member of the Jackson 5, Tito Jackson, passed away at the age of 70, according to a statement from his children posted on social media.

"With great sorrow, we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Tito Jackson, is no longer with us. We are shocked, sad, and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared for everyone and their well-being," wrote his sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll in the statement shared on Instagram on Sunday night.

Tito was the third of nine children, among whom were global superstars Michael and Janet. The three were part of the legendary group Jackson 5, completed by the other brothers Jermaine and Marlon.

Under the direction of their father, Joe Jackson, a guitarist and steelworker, the Jackson 5 rose to the top of the music industry, becoming one of the most influential groups. Joe, who supported his wife and their nine children in Gary, Indiana, guided them until, with the success achieved, the family moved to California.

Of all, the most successful was Michael, followed by his sister Janet. However, the former died in 2009 at the age of 50.

"I would say that it definitely brought us one step closer. Recognizing the love we feel for each other when one of us is not here is a great loss," he told the AP agency five months after the death of his younger brother.

This year, while remembering him on his birthday, he wrote heartfelt words in which he stated, "You have touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact and an influence that will be felt in generations to come. I miss you, but your light will always shine."

Tito was still performing with the group The Jackson, and they even had a concert scheduled for the upcoming October 25 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
