Reveal the facade of the restoration process of the Central Train Station of Havana.

As part of the railway project planned on the island until 2030, the ambitious work aims to preserve the heritage values of the iconic space.

The iconic Central Railway Station of Havana, built in 1912 and declared a National Monument, is undergoing an unprecedented restoration aimed at recovering its original splendor and modernizing its facilities.

As part of the railway project planned for the island until 2030, the ambitious work aims to preserve the heritage values of the station while integrating cutting-edge technology to meet current challenges.

In an audiovisual produced by Naturaleza Secreta and shared by Transport Minister Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila on the social network Facebook, the progress of the work is shown, highlighting that the space "is in motion."

Engineer Jorge Candelaria Barroso, general director of the Specialized Services and Integrated Project Management Company (ESDIP), highlighted that, although the station had received repairs in the 1960s and 1980s, none of those interventions were as significant as the one currently underway.

The current focus is on restoring the facade, increasing passenger capacity, decorative elements, plasterwork, metalwork, and carpentry, as well as incorporating sustainable technologies to enhance the railway system.

Since the original architecture cannot handle this flow efficiently, an adjacent building is being constructed for the final wait, with a modern architectural design that complements the historic building without fully integrating into it.

Among the most notable advancements are new waiting areas, offices, and cafeterias, but always with the aim of ensuring the sustainability of the station.
