TikTok user, Daiana Díaz (@daianadiaz2107), responded decisively to a comment on one of her videos, where she initially talked about the positive qualities of Cubans. In that video, Daiana invited her followers to add to the list if they thought she had missed something, which provoked a critical reaction from a user towards the Cuban community.
The comment, which accused Cubans of "inventing misdeeds," "being afraid of work," and not learning English, prompted a clear and firm response from Daiana. "There are both bad and good people in every country," she stated, emphasizing that the issues are not exclusive to Cubans and that her community is known for being supportive and hard-working. She also mentioned that the majority of Cubans in the U.S. help their families on the island, a reality that many know firsthand.
"The true Cuban knows what is happening in Cuba, because that is something that has to be lived to understand it," said Daiana, defending empathy and support among Cubans, especially towards their family members in Cuba. She also expressed her gratitude towards other compatriots who have supported her in difficult times, like what is happening now with her mother being sick on the island.
Daiana's followers quickly came to her support, highlighting the qualities of the Cuban community and criticizing the user's comment. "A hug to all Cubans, wherever we are," commented one user; "We are more good than bad, blessings," expressed another. Most of the comments praised the solidarity of Cubans and the respect with which Daiana responded to the criticisms.
"Cubans have a very big heart and we are supportive," highlighted another follower. "Very well explained, we cannot generalize," they added in reference to Daiana's defense of her community.
