The Cuban regime arrested Berta Soler, leader of the opposition movement Ladies in White, this Sunday as she was leaving her headquarters in Lawton, Havana.
On the social network X, the Cuban American National Foundation reported on the situation, which occurred just after being threatened last week by the repressor known as "Felo."
The repressor warned Berta that she would be imprisoned if she attended the demonstration on September 22, after Soler rejected an agreement that compromised her activism.
Despite the threat, the activist stated in a Facebook Live: "I will be on the street, and only God knows what may happen. There is no pact with the oppressor."
The situation is not new, as they have been detaining her every Sunday after she leaves her house in Lawton for years.
Soler Fernández was released in the early morning of Tuesday the 17th after being detained the previous Sunday near the headquarters of the Damas de Blanco by agents dressed in civilian clothing, recalled the portal Cubanet.
In the Cotorro unit, where she was in a semi-dark cell, the agent "Felo" suggested that if she and her husband, the former political prisoner Ángel Moya, stopped protesting, they could leave Cuba to see their family in the United States and return.
"I think that this ultimatum that the Cuban regime is giving us, this possibility of temporarily leaving the country by lifting the regulation, is being done to get rid of Berta Soler and Ángel Moya and also to eliminate or silence the Damas de Blanco, but they played this card very poorly because I am not someone who makes deals with State Security," the activist acknowledged to the mentioned media outlet.
The organization Prisoners Defenders (PD) reported a reduction in the number of political prisoners in Cuba, following the news of a prisoner's suicide, the forced expatriation of another, and the complete serving of sentences for 13 individuals.
The data provided on the social network X reveals, in addition, two new political prisoners for a total of 1,105 registered in the updated report for the month of August.
