Cuban in the USA: "In Miami, to keep your self-esteem up, you have to drive a good car."

Cuban on TikTok launches harsh criticism of Miami: Is the city just for millionaires?

A TikTok user from Cuba (@driven369) shared a reflection about Miami on the social network, stating that many people have a misguided concept of the city.

"Latinos and Cubans are mistaken about Miami. This is not the capital of the world. Miami is simply now a city in progress that is called the city of mosquito hunters, which is us Latinos," she starts by saying in the video, commenting that many Latinos are attracted by the beaches and the climate conditions of the city but that it is not made for everyone due to its high cost of living.

"Miami is made for the people who have been here for 40 or 50 years, when houses cost twenty-five thousand and you could get a whole cart of food for a dollar," he claims.

It also refers to the celebrities and wealthy figures who have made Miami their home, but warns ordinary Cubans not to compare themselves to them: "Whether Messi lives there or whoever, those people are millionaires from when houses cost ten grand. Don't compare yourselves anymore, understand that Miami is made for singers, for people who have businesses and companies, for that kind of people."

The Cuban criticizes those who boast about living in Miami while their family remains in Cuba, comparing it to some of his countrymen who buy luxury cars that they cannot maintain. "We Cubans make a mistake when we get into a Mercedes, because later on, we get out with an attitude that seems like we don't know the people around us. A Cuban buys a Mercedes and puts it in a condominium. I say this from my own experience too, because in Miami, to keep your self-esteem up, you have to get into a nice car."

Finally, it highlights that many Cubans face financial difficulties due to the high cost of living in the city, in contrast to other states where conditions are more favorable: "Miami doesn't let you live. The prosperity of Miami is thanks to the millionaire gringos. Where Cubans drive, there is no prosperity. The gringos prosper with their money."

For him, Miami has become "the city of the noose, the city that strangles you," and it is not made for everyone.
