Amtrak train starts daily route between Miami and Chicago.

The Amtrak train will begin a new daily round trip route between Miami and Chicago next November, although for a limited time, the railway company reported.

The new Floridian line will offer a direct trip between both cities, which will take almost 48 hours and include intermediate stops in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa, before finishing its route in Miami.

The train will combine two existing railroad lines, the Capitol Limited, which regularly travels between Chicago and Washington DC, and the Silver Star, which connects Miami and New York, and will make its inaugural journey on Sunday, November 10, although it will only be available temporarily, according to a statement from Amtrak, the state intercity passenger train network.

The service will have economy class and first class, with the option of a cabin or dormitory, a dining service, and a café service available for all customers with the sale of meals, snacks, and drinks, as well as other amenities and comforts for travelers, such as free basic wifi service, reclining seats, and luggage check-in. Passengers will also be able to travel with their pets.

The cost of seats in economy class starts at just over $100, with private rooms available from $700.

"Floridian offers customers an exceptional and sustainable journey to great destinations between Chicago and Miami, providing the comforts and delicious food that our guests enjoy when traveling with us," said Eliot Hamlisch, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Amtrak.

For now, the Florida route is temporary, and its opening is due to the upcoming East River Tunnel Rehabilitation Project in New York, which will close one tube of the tunnel at a time to modernize its infrastructure. These repairs have been needed since the devastating Hurricane Sandy hit the northeast U.S. in 2012, noted a report from Telemundo51.

The Passenger Association of Railroads indicated that the Floridian will partially relieve the pressure on the Northeast corridor and will offer travelers a railway route from the Midwest to Florida that they had previously requested.

The new line gets its name from the Amtrak service in Florida that was offered in the 1970s and operated directly from Florida to the Midwest of the U.S. for nearly a decade, WFLA reported.
