72-year-old elderly woman is missing in Havana.

Reports of missing elderly people have increased in Cuba in recent months.

A 72-year-old woman, identified as Mirtha Mayedo Carreño and originally from Nuevitas, Camagüey, has been missing since the beginning of this week.

The woman was last seen in zone 80, Playa Santa Lucía de Nuevitas, wearing a blue sweater and black pants and sneakers, as shown in the photograph released by her family.

The internet user Madelaine Castillo requested help through social media to find the whereabouts of the elderly woman, whose daughter, Denia Batista Mayedo, is desperate and claims that it is unknown if her mother boarded any bus.

According to the post, the family has activated the phone number 5424 5002 to gather any information about the whereabouts of Mirtha, who is known as Chicha by her loved ones.

This Wednesday, it was reported that another elderly Cuban is disoriented in a hospital in Sancti Spíritus, and the staff at the healthcare facility has requested help to locate his relatives.
