The former Cuban spy Gerardo Hernández Nordelo sent congratulations to singer Arnaldo Rodríguez, whom he described as a "talented patriot."
The coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) shared a photo of both of them together on his Twitter account, along with a congratulatory message to the musician for his name day.
"Today is the birthday of this talented patriot, and his large family of cedistas wishes him much happiness," she wrote.
Arnaldo is a strong advocate of the Castro regime, which has earned him various accolades.
It is not surprising that he is a personal friend of Gerardo, whom he publicly refers to as his brother, and that he even offers to perform with his group El Talismán at the events organized by the former leader of the failed Red Avispa.
"Brother Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, you have a wonderful family. As the poet-singer says, 'only love gives birth to wonder,'" wrote the singer-songwriter in 2022 on Twitter, accompanying a photo of himself with the spy, his wife, and children.
For his part, Gerardo praised Arnaldo, referring to him as an artist "increasingly committed to his people."
The leader enjoys being close to the artists who support the government.
Last June, he expressed how much he admires the singer and sonero Cándido Fabré, who, in his opinion, "doesn't fear anything."
His statements came days after Fabré, known for his fervent support of the regime and Fidel Castro's ideals, stirred controversy with his views on the blackouts in Cuba.
