Cuban fishing boat runs aground during voyage to the Isle of Youth.

The fishing vessel LAMBDA Siboney, owned by the company PESCAISLA, ran aground in La Mulata cove, near the Tabaco lighthouse, north of Bahía Honda.

The Minister of Transport of Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, reported that the vessel, approximately 32 meters long and made of prefabricated materials, was making the journey from Havana to Gerona after having come out of repairs.

According to the official, the incident occurred in the early hours of this Saturday, approximately at 1:30 a.m.

Rodríguez Dávila explained that the crew members are not in danger, and the Border Guard Troops have sent a boat to the location to provide immediate assistance.

The Ministry of Transport reported that the rescue system has been activated with the participation of Antillana de Salvamento, to carry out the established procedure in these cases.

The incident is under control, and the authorities will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of the crew and the ship, said the head of the department, who is facing a serious crisis across all its means of transportation.
