Cuban Yasmani Grandal continues to make his mark in Major League Baseball, as he entered the top-5 of the switch-hitting catchers with the most home runs in the history of the premier baseball competition in the world on Saturday.
During the game between his team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the New York Yankees, the catcher hit his 194th home run and surpassed Jason Varitek, an icon at the position, to solidify his place among the greatest of all time.
According to journalist Francys Romero on the social network Facebook, Grandal is only surpassed by Jorge Posada (275), Ted Simmons (248), Mickey Tettleton (245), and Todd Hundley (202).
With this achievement, the player continues to establish himself as one of the most powerful behind the plate, not only for his defense but also for his offensive capabilities, especially as a switch hitter.
Each home run he adds to his total brings him closer to a higher prestige position on the list, reaffirming his place among the great catchers in MLB.
