They are building a photovoltaic park in the Cienfuegos municipality of Abreus.

Cuba aims to achieve 1,000 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic generation by 2025.

In the municipality of Abreus, belonging to the central province of Cienfuegos, one of the solar parks is being built with which Cuba aims to reach 1,000 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic generation by 2025.

Caribbean Channel reports that the project, located in Alcalde Mayor, is the most advanced of all those planned by the Cuban government, which aims to reach 2,000 MW of photovoltaic generation by 2030, with the first 1,000 by 2025.

This solar park will generate 21.8 MW and is being built with panels using Chinese technology. Its synchronization with the National Electric Power System is scheduled for the upcoming month of November.

By the year 2028, Cienfuegos plans to build a total of five new photovoltaic solar parks, Salvador Vera Hernández, director of investments at the Cienfuegos Electric Company, declared to Prensa Latina in June.

In addition to Abreus, the Electric Company of that territory is building in Aguada de Pasajeros and Cumanayagua.

In mid-May of this year, Cuba's Electric Union (UNE) announced the synchronization to the national system of the "La Criolla" photovoltaic park, with a capacity of 4.4 MW and located in Villa Clara.

Despite the company's enthusiasm, the post was filled with over 200 comments from Cubans fed up with the energy crisis, enduring blackouts of up to 20 hours. This situation has not changed to this day.

Complaints from Cubans are filling social media these days, where frequent and prolonged daily blackouts are reported and the Electric Union is denounced for its abuse towards the population.
