The protest symbol "Súbelo Mayeta," which collects the complaints of the people of Santiago de Cuba sent to independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada and has become a popular hashtag on social media, has taken a step further by transforming into a protest conga.

The communicator himself shared a reel on Facebook showing a large group of young people performing a conga, using improvised musical instruments, while singing "Súbelo Mayeta."

The congas, a musical genre deeply rooted in the tradition of Santiago de Cuba, have always been a spontaneous expression of the anxieties, problems, and adversities of the people, as well as serving as a means of denunciation through their "coritos."

"‘Súbelo Mayeta’, the new conga-protest that has spread throughout Santiago de Cuba," pointed out in the message that accompanied the video shared on social media.

In recent years, the independent journalist has become a spokesperson for denouncing the injustices committed by the regime in Santiago de Cuba, also revealing the secrets that the government tries to hide.

Over time, Mayeta has gained the trust of the people, becoming a symbol of hope for those seeking solutions to their problems and justice against the regime.

For this reason, several people, including artists, have sought to reclaim the symbol "Súbelo Mayeta," transforming it into an icon of protest.

Recently, Lico Wayne and Tino Mán, two figures of urban music in Santiago de Cuba, were summoned to the Police Station "La Motorizada" and threatened with reprisals if they filmed the music video for the song "Súbelo Mayeta."

The artists were planning to film the music video for the song, but they couldn't attend the recording set due to a police summons, as reported by Mayeta on Facebook.

The musical producer Asdrúbal Reyna, known in Santiago de Cuba for his collaboration with various street artists under the label “Guetto Music,” suffered a similar fate when he was detained and taken to La Motorizada due to his involvement in the production of the song “Súbelo Mayeta.”

However, independent journalist Mayeta warned on Facebook that the reasons for his arrest were unknown, as well as the whereabouts of the young man.
