They celebrate the Virgen de la Caridad with a conga in pilgrimage to El Cobre.

The devotees organize a festive conga to accompany the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre in Santiago de Cuba.

The program of activities to celebrate the Virgen de la Caridad has already started to be noticed in Santiago de Cuba with a conga that accompanied the parishioners to the sanctuary in El Cobre.

The day of the Virgin of Charity of Copper is September 8, but thousands of devotees prepare in advance to pay tribute to the Patroness of Cuba.

Some begin a novena at their Sanctuary in the town of El Cobre, meaning they pray in a devotional exercise for nine days to obtain a grace or request a specific intention.

The festive conga accompanied the pilgrims from the central park of the village to the Sanctuary, merging traditional Cuban music with religious devotion.

The official celebrations at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Charity will begin on September 7 with the opening of the Sanctuary at 7:00 am and will continue with a series of masses, rosaries, and processions. The first evening mass will take place at 8:00 pm.

On September 8th, activities will kick off at midnight with a mass presided over by the Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba, Mons. Dionisio García Ibáñez, who will also be in charge of the main mass, which will be broadcast on national television.

During the day, the pilgrims will have the assistance of permanent deacons, religious women, and pastoral agents. The Sanctuary will close its doors at 11:00 pm, thus concluding a day of deep devotion and joy.

This Saturday, Cubans residing in Florida, United States, witnessed a procession of the Virgen de la Ermita de la Caridad through several points in Miami-Dade County. The procession is held annually, featuring a replica of the original image.

Many Cubans, both inside and outside the island, prepare with faith to await the arrival of the Day of the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre.

Some light candles, others place flowers and dedicate prayers. Among the most frequent requests to the Patroness of Cuba is that she cover those born on the island with her mantle of protection and bring prosperity to this people.
