Spaniards try malanga with cream cheese and fried egg for the first time.

Their faces are the best evidence of what they have enjoyed.

Cuban producer, singer, and songwriter Ariel Queupumil Rodríguez, better known as Ariel de Cuba (@arieldecubareal), has stirred nostalgia among many Cubans on TikTok with his video where he prepared a recipe for malanga with egg and cream cheese. From Spain, Ariel shared step by step how to make this dish, mashing the malanga with a fork "like in Cuba," and adding a final touch with milk and cream cheese. "Look how it's coming along... now we finish with an egg," he explained while mixing the ingredients with a smile.

After the process, he expressed his enthusiasm at seeing Spaniards trying this tuber for the first time. "It's your first time trying malanga, do you like it or not?" Ariel asks with laughter, and the response was quick: "very good, hehe."

The comments came quickly, many of them filled with nostalgia and cravings. "Ahhhh how delicious, what nostalgia for our malanga, here in Italy it's very rare to find," commented one user, to which Ariel replied: "That's true, you can never find it like in Cuba here in Spain either." Another user joined the conversation expressing, "Ufff how tasty," while someone else lamented the scarcity of malanga in Europe: "Here in Spain, you can find it at Latin or Arab markets," Ariel assured, always trying to help his followers.

Some pointed out how difficult it is to get this tuber outside the island, making it a true treasure for Cubans abroad. Other users, amidst laughter, recalled how much they miss Cuban malanga. "The day I get to have malanga again, I will need a bag to satisfy my craving," commented another person, eliciting smiles from more than one.

The combination of flavors and memories seems to have touched the hearts of many, and there were those who have already taken note of the recipe to try it in their own kitchens: "I'll take note... it looks very good," confessed someone else, while Ariel closed with a "Yesss, you're going to love it." The video continues to accumulate views and comments, stirring a debate among followers about the best way to enjoy this classic Cuban dish outside the island.
