In 2022, a Cuban doctor reportedly attempted suicide at the health center of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security Los Ceibos, located north of Guayaquil, Ecuador, local media reported.

The suicide attempt occurred on the afternoon of this Wednesday when the 45-year-old Cuban doctor, a specialist in Cardiology, reportedly jumped from the third floor of the "Los Ceibos" hospital, falling onto the roof of the second floor from a height of approximately five meters, according to the Facebook profiles of the media outlets Babahoyos and EC Digital.

Doctor Carrazana passed away due to complications from hemorrhagic dengue with multiple organ failure, as specified to CiberCuba by a consulted medical colleague.

In 2021, 67 percent of foreigners who acquired Ecuadorian nationality came from Cuba.

According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, cited by the newspaper El Comercio, between January and September of this year, there were 630 naturalization processes, more than double the 262 recorded in 2020, although the difference may be due to the shutdown caused by the pandemic.
