Cubans in several provinces of the country have organized vigils for this Saturday night for the recovery of the popular reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal, better known as El Taiger, who is in critical condition in a hospital in Miami.
In Cienfuegos, the population has been called to gather this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in Parque Martí, in front of the church, to pray for the health of the artist and to ask for the freedom of political prisoners in Cuba.
The call was led by Alejandro Jesús Álvarez Silverio and Bryan Jesús, who invited the people of Cienfuegos to join.
In Santiago de Cuba, there has been confusion about the exact location of the vigil, with different proposals to hold it at Plaza de Marte, Parque Ferreiro, or Alameda.
The organizers are still trying to coordinate the time and the final location for the people of Santiago to come together in prayer for El Taiger's recovery.
In Cárdenas, there will also be a vigil in support of the popular artist, one of the favorites in Cuba, according to several posts on Facebook.
In Havana, a vigil was already held this Friday at the intersection of 23 and Malecón, where dozens of people gathered to pray for the health of the artist.
Among the participants was Johayron, known as "Rutina," a popular child on social media, who thrilled those present by singing spiritual and santería songs.
Dressed completely in white, Rutina dedicated her prayers to her "uncle" El Taiger, to whom she expressed her love and unconditional support.
In Miami, where the reggaeton artist is hospitalized, a vigil was also held on Friday with the participation of figures from the urban genre like Chocolate, El Yonky, Nesty, and Mawell, who joined in prayers for the swift recovery of their colleague.
The latest medical report indicates that El Taiger remains in critical condition and has been moved to a room under constant police surveillance.
Through social media, both colleagues in the industry and fans of the singer have shown their support and are keeping an eye on his progress.
The artist was found in the trunk of an abandoned truck in front of a hospital on Wednesday with a gunshot wound to the forehead.
