A Cuban mother with her daughter and four grandsons evicted in Old Havana.

Four small children lived in the housing.

A Cuban mother, her daughter, and her four small grandchildren were evicted in the early hours of Friday from a house they occupied after it had been vacant for eight years in Old Havana.

According to the report, Yamila García and her daughter Yanelis Goza, along with four minors, were evicted from a home in Havana after a night marked by threats, assaults, and an attempt at forced eviction.

The activist Adrián Rubio, who is related to the women, posted on Facebook that the eviction began around 2:00 a.m. and ended in the morning when the authorities put the women and children out on the street. After that, they arrested Yamila and Yanelis.

The family members held the Cuban regime responsible for any consequences that may arise from this situation and explained that one of the girls, only four years old, has heart problems and had to spend the night under police violence.

This eviction adds to a growing list of cases in Cuba where families living in abandoned properties are evicted, often without prior notice or an alternative housing solution.

In the midst of the housing crisis on the island, the issue of occupations by homeless individuals is also a concern for Cubans who travel abroad and leave their properties closed in Cuba.

In last September, the Cuban TikToker Dairon Cano asked his followers for help for a mother of two minors in Miami who was at imminent risk of becoming homeless.

Dairon interviewed the woman, who, while crying, recounted that she and her family live in a rented place, but the person who made the contract wants to evict them.

That week, the case of a boy who slept in a park came to light, and he has already found a job after the TikToker shared his story on social media.
