Famous Colombian journalist dives with a crocodile in Cuba: "I do not recommend doing this"

Known for his show "El mundo según Pirry," this photographer has been the only Colombian nominated for the International Emmy Award in the category of Best Documentary.

The famous Colombian journalist and photojournalist Guillermo Arturo Prieto La Rotta (Pirry) shared on his social media the amazing experience he had while swimming alongside a crocodile during a diving expedition in Jardines de la Reina, an archipelago located on the southern coast of Cuba.

Pirry, known for his adventurous spirit and ability to document wildlife, decided to immerse himself in the warm Cuban waters in search of the best shot of the American crocodile while diving in its natural habitat.

In a video shared on his social media, the Colombian influencer explained: "I didn't have a cameraman, I had to do everything myself, which is why many shots were in selfie mode and you see me very close to the animal. I don't recommend doing this to anyone."

He was accompanied by a group of experts. However, the adventure turned dangerous when the crocodile reacted unexpectedly to the light from another diver's camera.

Pirry was dangerously close to the mouth of the reptile. The people who were out of the water, watching the scene from a boat, shouted in alarm. The Colombian remained calm and managed to dodge the crocodile but continued diving with the majestic animal.

"I don't recommend it, but swimming with him was one of my most beautiful moments in nature," Pirry confessed.

This famous photographer is from Tunja, Boyacá. He is recognized for his journalistic work, his documentaries, and for his role as an influencer on social media. He loves extreme sports like diving and has also swum with sharks.

In the Instagram post, where he shared the video recounting the experience of swimming with a crocodile in Cuba, Pirry reflected on the wild nature of animals and the attitude of human beings.

"That animal is a monster, the one next to it is a crocodile. In search of the best shot, many things escape your control, the truth is I was lucky. They tell me if for a second they felt there with me. Remember, wild animals are not good or bad, they are wild. The one who is good or bad is man."
