The Cuban singer and director of the group Los 4, Jorge Junior, has been in the United States since Friday night.
He went to Miami to say a final goodbye to his cousin, the reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, known artistically as El Taiger, who passed away this Thursday after spending several days in a hospital in critical condition due to a gunshot wound to the head.
"He is coming with me to Havana. I brought him, I am taking him with me. He will be cremated and will be next to his mom in Cuba," said Jorge Junior in statements to journalist Daniel Benítez on Univisión Noticias.
Jorge Junior and El Taiger have a family relationship and also had a professional relationship when they worked together in Los 4. They went through difficult times, but they had managed to overcome their differences and were in an excellent moment of fraternal relationship as cousins.
El Taiger's first trip to Miami was with Jorge Junior. That's why the voice of the leader of Los 4 nearly breaks when he declares that he must also take his cousin back home, to his homeland, alongside his mother.
The death of El Taiger in Miami has been a hard blow for his family on the island, as they could not be with him during his hospitalization, following the violent act that took his life.
After several days of a devastating wait, Jorge Junior received the humanitarian visa and traveled to Miami that same day to say goodbye to El Taiger on behalf of his family.
So far, it has not been disclosed whether a funeral will be held in Miami prior to the artist's cremation.
Fans of El Taiger in the city of Sun have set up a makeshift altar on the street to honor him in the very spot where his body was found severely injured on October 4, near Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Jorge Junior will be the legal representative to handle all the procedures related to his cousin's death and the professional matters of El Taiger in the United States.
The police investigation in Miami to solve this complicated homicide case remains open. Authorities have stated that it is a puzzle, with some pieces still missing. They have requested community collaboration from anyone who may have valuable information.
They have been searching for several days for the citizen Damián Valdez-Galloso, alias "El Narra," who may have key information about the tragic event. However, they clarify that "he is not the suspect" in the crime.
