Less than 8% of Cuban households have access to the internet.

Less than eight percent of Cuban households have access to the internet, a figure that has remained static since last year, as revealed in the recent TIC Business Forum organized by the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the event, where the technological future of Cuba was debated, it was reported that internet access in homes is only 7.23%, and 84% in the popular councils, reported the official media Granma.

On its part, the population coverage in 3G is 87.53%, and in 4G it is 50.04%.

Regarding mobile telephony, access is 71.2% of the population, and fixed telephony is 14.3%.

According to the data provided by the regime, access to the internet in Cuban households has not increased by a single customer since 2023, when it was reported that "more than 282,000 homes have the Nauta Hogar service, with a marked intention to prioritize rural populations."

This represented just 7.23% of the island's housing fund – the same figure offered for this year – estimated at 3.9 million houses, and only 8,000 new services more than in 2022.

It is also one of the worst statistics in the region, just above Haiti, according to a regional report on Access and Use of Internet in Latin America and the Caribbean. While the report did not have data for Cuba, in Haiti, the connected households were 6.0%, and the second worst country was Nicaragua, with 25%.

The event was attended by 172 Cubans living in more than 30 countries, who collaborate on initiatives to strengthen the software industry and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on the island.
