They mourn the passing of young paramedic Yosmedy García Cobas in Havana

Cuban paramedics mourn the passing of Yosmedy García Cobas this Sunday, a young colleague from the Medical Emergency System (SIUM) in Havana, affectionately known as “El Moro.”

Aris Arias Batalla, Operations and Relief Manager in Santiago de Cuba, expressed his condolences on Facebook: “We mourn the loss of our great colleague, Yosmedy García, affectionately known as ‘El Moro’. You left us so young, dear colleague, taken from us by a tragic illness in such a short time.”

"Rest in peace, colleague and friend. From wherever you are, watch over your wonderful coworkers who care so much for you, even from the sky. All of us at SIUM Nacional carry you in our hearts," said Arias.

Also on Facebook, Niurka Pedroso expressed her sorrow over the death of the young paramedic: "I want to thank all the staff at the Institute of Hematology who worked hard every day and fought until the end to support our colleague, brother, and friend Yosmedy García Cobas."

“To you, wherever you are, know that we will never forget you; we will always remember you as that great grump, that joker. Rest in peace. You know that your turn at 1 SIUM Region East, I would have given up everything to give it to you. Thank you, Moro, for your friendship and companionship,” he said in his heartfelt farewell message.

This Saturday, those close to the prominent throwing coach in athletics, Enrique Eulalio Díaz Gómez, mourned his passing at the age of 70 in Havana due to a pulmonary thromboembolism.

The news was reported by the Facebook profile Leo Burun Cuba, which added that "his remains will be cremated and a tribute will be held at his home when his ashes are brought back," as Díaz Gómez was originally from the province of Villa Clara.

Last Thursday, thousands of Cubans also mourned the passing of El Taiger, one of the leading figures in urban music in the country.

Numerous artists bid farewell to the singer with heartfelt messages shared on social media.
