Ramiro González, a Cuban-born man residing in Tampa, Florida, posed tough questions to Donald Trump during the Hispanic voters' forum organized by Univision this Wednesday in Miami.
The Cuban-American, 56 years old and working in the construction sector, openly told the former president that he wanted to give him the opportunity to win his vote again.
However, the voter expressed deep doubts about Trump's leadership, referencing the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the fact that several people close to the former president during his administration now do not support him.
"His actions or lack of action during the last years of his presidency were very concerning to me, especially on January 6 [2021]," said González at the beginning of his intervention in fluent English.
The Cuban-American said he did not understand why it "took so long to take action while those mobs attacked the Capitol."
Next, he raised a second point: COVID, of which he said that "more people could have been saved if better actions had been taken."
Thirdly, Ramiro González referred to the loss of support for Trump, even within his closest circle, and mentioned the case of Vice President Mike Pence.
In his response, with a haughty tone, the Republican candidate asserted that 97 percent of those who worked with him still support him.
"The people who do not support me are very few, but if someone does not support me, they get a lot of publicity," he stated.
"When people do their job poorly, I fire them, and if they speak ill of me, it doesn't matter," he added.
Regarding COVID, he remained silent and did not respond, but he did share his opinion concerning the invasion of the Capitol.
He went on to say that in a way it was a "day of love" for many of his followers, and he defended the protesters, indicating that they came to Washington because of the election results, not because of his fault.
He also added that he had asked them to act in a "peaceful and patriotic" manner.
Regarding the mistakes made during his own administration, Trump admitted to having appointed people he would not choose again.
"Now I have more experience, I know the good, the bad, the foolish..." he remarked, noting that one of his priorities would be to surround himself with a more efficient team if he returns to the White House.
"Now it's another election. All I want is an honest election. We need borders and honest elections. If not, this is not going to work," he said.
Trump did not miss the opportunity to attack Joe Biden and label him as the "worst administration in the history of the United States," while describing the situation at the border as a "disaster."
He then pointed to himself as responsible for having achieved the best economy in history, for having rebuilt the army, and for having defeated ISIS.
"In general, we are doing well in the polls, I have very good numbers with Hispanics. Basically, I am doing very well with all groups," he stated.
"I hope to get your vote, it seems that maybe not, but that’s okay," he concluded.
