The province of Matanzas experienced a general blackout again after a "discharge in the startup of the electrical microsystem," reported the Electric Company of the region.
"In the process of consolidating the microsystem, a shot occurred that left the province without service," says a post from the entity on Facebook.
The note adds that they have restarted the microsystem, but it also clarifies that during this process there will be instability in the service, "which is why the current may come and go."
The disconnection of the island, which caused a widespread blackout on Friday, has not yet been resolved. Cuban authorities still have not provided a definitive date for stabilizing the electricity supply to Cubans.
According to Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, who has pointed to the United States as the culprit for the island's energy crisis, this situation is “yet another demonstration of all the problems caused by the blockade, and the impacts of the blockade. Sometimes it is said that it is not, that it is due to inefficiency, that it is meant to annoy people.”
On his part, the Cuban economist Pedro Monreal has pointed out the collapse of the electrical system on the island, which has left numerous families without supply for over 48 hours and with no definitive solution in sight, describing it as a genuine "energy ruin."
This Saturday, the widespread blackout on the island continues, despite the regime announcing the recovery of some circuits, but it remains insufficient for citizens who have gone more than two days without electricity, in addition to the paralysis of most activities in the country.
