The provincial broadcaster Radio Holguín announced this Saturday that, due to technical problems with its frequencies 97.7 FM and 1110 AM, it will transmit its signal via telephone to keep the population informed about the massive power outage and the approach of Hurricane Oscar.

The radio station pointed out on Facebook that it has implemented this alternative method to ensure that its programming is not affected.

It was reported that listeners can now tune in to the station's special magazine, broadcast from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, through phone lines by dialing the number 18899 from a landline.

The energy landscape in Cuba, after several days of collapse, is beginning to gradually restore itself, a situation that is further complicated in the eastern part of the island due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Oscar.

The Electric Company of Holguín reported this Sunday that the circuits supplying electricity from the province of Matanzas to Holguín have been successfully interconnected.

"In this minute, an interconnected system has been established between Matanzas and Holguín, whose fundamental bases are the CTE Guiteras, Energás Varadero, unit 5 of Nuevitas, and distributed generation," reported the state-owned company from Holguín on its social media.

According to their report, the Electric Union of Cuba (UNE) is now working "on energizing the network in the western area, starting from the startup of Energás Boca de Jaruco, to reach the floating plants in Havana and the thermoelectric plant in Mariel."
