Inter Miami, led by the genius Lionel Messi, set a new historic points record in the main soccer league in the United States (MLS) on Saturday, finishing the regular season with 74 points and surpassing the previous record (73) held by their opponent, New England Revolution, since 2021.

In an electrifying match that ended 6-2 in favor of "Las Garzas," Messi came on from the bench in the 57th minute and quickly made his presence felt with a hat-trick in just over half an hour; a standout performance highlighted by the club on the social network X.

With the score at 3-2 and to avoid surprises, "La Pulga," who also scored three goals against Bolivia just a few days ago, shined with a stunning goal from outside the box in the 78th minute; he scored his second of the game in the 81st minute, and in the 89th, he completed his splendid hat-trick after a great combination with Luis Suárez and the Ecuadorian Leonardo Campana.

The Uruguayan Suárez also shone with a double, while Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets completed the show, all former FC Barcelona players and great friends outside the field.

The team of coach Gerardo Martino had already secured the "MLS Supporters Shield" and with it, home-field advantage in the playoffs. Thus, in the first round, they will face the winner between Montreal and Atlanta United.

In addition, the other big news is that Messi and Inter Miami will play in the Club World Cup as guests invited by FIFA, an announcement made by Gianni Infantino, president of the institution, after the dispute was resolved, according to the newspaper Marca.
