A Cuban in the United States expressed his surprise on TikTok after discovering something unexpected at Walmart: pig heads for sale at 97 cents a pound! In his video, recorded amidst laughter and astonishment, he commented that it was the first time he had seen something like this during his visits to the store. “Look at this, my people, what a kind of madness… pig head at Walmart, what a first time!” he expressed while showing his followers the unusual find.
His partner, who has been living in the United States for 13 years, also couldn't believe what she was seeing: "Never in my life," she replied when he asked her if she had ever seen anything like it before. Still shocked, the TikToker @jorge_drake1992 joked about using the heads for one of the most traditional dishes of Cubans: "I already know that for the next caldosa in the neighborhood, I'm going to come here, buy a few pig heads, and make a good ajiaco," he said, amused by the low price of 97 cents per pound.
The discovery provoked an avalanche of comments and intense debate among its followers. Many claimed they had never seen anything like it in Walmart, while others commented that in some areas it was more common than it seemed. "I've been in San Antonio for 30 years and I've never seen it," said one user, while another remarked, "I've been here for 13 years and this is the first time I see it, but in this video." However, some followers insisted it wasn't that rare: "That is thrown out in all Walmarts," while others, like @lazaro2028, said it was more frequent in certain areas: "Yesss, they take it out here in this area where I live all the time."
The conversation also revolved around caldosa, a Cuban tradition that is cooked in a group, and it was mentioned several times in the comments: “Damn, that's some great caldosa coming out of there,” said one while laughing; while another joked, “The CDR's caldosa is ready.”
Users' reactions made it clear that what is normal for some is a complete novelty for others, and the video by @jorge_drake1992 not only sparked laughter but also a debate about regional differences in the United States.
And you? Have you seen port heads at Walmart?
