The Cuban singer-songwriter Cándido Fabré has composed a song titled "Centinela de lo Urbano," a lyrical tribute to the urban musician José Manuel Carbajal, known artistically as El Taiger, who passed away on October 10 in Miami.

The work combines Fabré's characteristic style, known for its improvisation in traditional Cuban music, with a focus on the memory and legacy of the honored artist, whose ashes arrived in Cuba on Friday and were honored in a family tribute at the El Sauce Cultural Center in Havana to bid a final farewell.

The song, the second that Fabré dedicates to the reggaeton artist following his passing, focuses on honoring the figure of El Taiger, whose influence on Cuban urban music has been significant, highlighting his legacy as a symbol of resistance and creativity.

The lyrics of the song draw on deep metaphors and spiritual references. The excerpt emphasizes concepts such as: "The Taiger will never be ashes," "your dreams will be fulfilled," and "you knew how to reach the sun."

The chorus reinforces the image of an invincible "matador," who continues to be present in spirit and whose legacy endures. The interspersed lines in the lyrics emphasize the omnipresence of the honoree, highlighting that he will be "everywhere" as "untouchable and immortal."

Fabré joined the messages of support and tribute directed at El Taiger after the news broke that the reggaeton artist had been shot in the head and was in critical condition.

He titled his song "Levántate matador," clearly referencing one of the most popular tracks by the reggaeton artist, which has become one of his anthems.

On Friday, family, friends, fans, and colleagues of El Taiger accompanied his ashes to Colón Cemetery, where he rests alongside his mother.
