In an effort to support communities affected by Hurricane Oscar, activists from Havana and Matanzas have launched a book collection campaign to send to the impacted areas in Guantánamo.
Activist Yadiel Cepero reported on Facebook that they are still collecting donations to deliver to areas affected by Hurricane Oscar.
"This time, books for the affected libraries and for children, adolescents, and families who want them," he noted.
Additionally, he noted that they have established several donation collection points in Matanzas and Havana, and emphasized that "all generous contributions are appreciated."
Cepero invited those who wish to bring their donations to the AfroAtenAs project headquarters, located in the Callejón de las Tradiciones in Matanzas, to do so before Wednesday. However, he clarified that if they are unable to meet this deadline, arrangements will be made with other initiatives to ensure that the aid reaches its destination.
Following the devastating impact of Hurricane Oscar on eastern Cuba, many people have come together to assist those affected.
The activists of the solidarity initiative "Huellas" launched a social media campaign to provide assistance to those affected by Hurricane Oscar in eastern Cuba.
In a message directed to all Cubans, regardless of ideology or beliefs, Johanna Jolá Álvarez, the leader of the project, called for solidarity through Facebook in light of the devastation caused by the cyclone, which has deprived thousands of families of their basic material possessions.
Similarly, a Cuban posted a message offering his private car, a Moskvitch, to make a trip to San Antonio del Sur to deliver donations to those affected by the hurricane.
"I offer my car for a trip tomorrow to deliver donations to San Antonio del Sur. 51463617," wrote Wilmer Fernández in the Facebook group Revolico Guantanamero.
