In an effort to support the communities affected by Hurricane Oscar, activists from Havana and Matanzas have launched a book collection campaign to send to the impacted areas in Guantánamo.
Activist Yadiel Cepero reported on Facebook that they are still collecting donations to support the areas affected by Hurricane Oscar.
"On this occasion, books for the affected libraries and for children, adolescents, and families who want them," she noted.
Additionally, he noted that they have established several donation collection points in Matanzas and Havana, and emphasized that "every act of solidarity is appreciated."
Cepero invited those who wish to make donations to the AfroAtenAs project headquarters, located in the Alley of Traditions in Matanzas, to do so before Wednesday. However, he clarified that if they cannot meet this deadline, coordination with other initiatives will be organized to ensure the assistance reaches its intended destination.
Following the devastating impact of Hurricane Oscar on eastern Cuba, numerous individuals have come together to assist those affected.
The activists of the solidarity initiative "Huellas" launched a campaign on social media to provide assistance to those affected by Hurricane Oscar in eastern Cuba.
In a message addressed to all Cubans, regardless of ideology or beliefs, Johanna Jolá Álvarez, leader of the project, called for solidarity via Facebook in light of the devastation left by the cyclone, which has deprived thousands of families of their basic material possessions.
Similarly, a Cuban posted a message offering his personal car, a Moskvitch, to make a trip to San Antonio del Sur to deliver donations to those affected by the hurricane.
"I offer my car to take donations to San Antonio del Sur tomorrow. 51463617," wrote Wilmer Fernández in the Facebook group Revolico Guantanamero.
