Power outages exceeded 11 hours this Sunday in Holguín.

This was acknowledged by the provincial Electric Company, which reported that the "generation deficit" caused power outages lasting over 10 hours in five circuits of the province.

Cuban authorities claim to have stabilized the national electro-energy system (SEN), but the reality is that blackouts continue to affect the lives of Cubans, particularly in provinces like Holguín, where residents endure power outages exceeding 10 hours daily.

The Electric Company of Holguín acknowledged this through its social media, stating that the "generation deficit" caused power outages of up to 11 hours on one of the circuits in the province this Sunday.

"The average time affected by generation deficit that day was 5 hours and 8 minutes (05:08). The longest duration a circuit was affected was 11 hours and 10 minutes: Guaro Circuit," the state-owned company stated on Facebook.

However, other circuits in the province also experienced outages exceeding 10 hours, such as Circuit 17 (10:50 hours), Alcides Pino Circuit (10:50 hours), Circuit 16 (10:50 hours), and Circuit 13 (10:23 hours). Meanwhile, Mir 2 Circuit reached a blackout duration of nine hours and 10 minutes.

The company offered “apologies for the inconvenience caused,” but residents of Holguín reacted with indignation to the announcement, leaving comments that revealed their frustration over the power outages.

"Holguín at the forefront"; "Misguided, because Circuit 1 was indeed affected in the early hours"; "Alcides Pino was there for 12 hours: six in the morning and six at night," said some of the clients from the Holguín company.

The widespread blackouts that have affected the lives of Cubans to varying degrees for years reached unprecedented levels in mid-October, just before the total collapse of the National Electric System.

On Tuesday, October 15, a massive demonstration took place in the Holguín town of Báguanos, where a group of residents took to the streets to protest against power outages and demand the restoration of electricity supply after more than 12 hours of daily interruptions.

With the chant of “We want electricity!”, dozens of residents of Báguano gathered at La Madre Park, where they demanded that a municipal authority come forward to explain the situation and commit to finding a solution for those affected.

In the midst of public outrage in mid-May, the Electric Company of Holguín deemed it appropriate to hire a psychologist to help manage the stress this situation is causing its employees.
