Cuban in Florida sends medicine to her family in Cuba: "I had to work magic to send what they need."

A Cuban in Florida explains how she works "magic" to send everything her family needs in the island.

A Cuban living in Sarasota, Florida, shared on TikTok how she sends medicine packages to her family in Cuba and the costs involved.

"A Cuban struggles even to send a small package to their family," remarked the user @atrevetebyrosy in the video, referring to the complex and costly process of sending basic goods to the island. "Prices have gone up. I send medicines for four families. I had to work some magic to send what they currently need and package everything separately so that no one gets tempted by what I sent to someone else," she explained.

The resident of Sarasota mentioned that the shipping cost her 5 dollars. In her most recent shipment, she included antibiotics, vitamins, aspirin, and baby products, always trying to optimize the weight of the package by removing the cardboard that wraps the medications.

"I throw away all the boxes to save weight, which equals money. Every bit counts," he remarked, emphasizing the importance of making the most of every pound. "What may be normal to carry in a little box when going to another country, for Cuba—considering how many things one needs to send—means that with the weight of all those boxes, I could send another pound, whether it's medicine or food," he added.

In his account, he also mentioned the sacrifice involved in sending gifts to his family. "I did something nice for my uncle and aunt and sent them clothes, and that cost me over 15 dollars," he said, emphasizing how the expenses skyrocket when trying to send anything beyond essential items.

"Oh my life, how true all of that is. What a pain," "As long as I can send them what they need, I will pay the price without a second thought," or "That's exactly what I do," responded some Cubans to the video.
