Descemer Bueno's happiness is complete, as he is enjoying a few days in the Dominican Republic with his mother, Mercedes Martínez, and his family, who traveled from Cuba to reunite with him.
It had been four years since the Cuban singer and songwriter last embraced his mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, a disease that has made the distance even harder for him to bear.
"Thank you, my God, and everything that exists in this world for giving me this opportunity. Here I am with my mother in the Dominican Republic. Four years and eight months have passed during which, due to security issues, I could not see my mother in my homeland. For the same reasons, I was forced to bring her to this beautiful island full of incredibly kind people. God bless them," Descemer wrote in a Facebook post.
In the video recorded by his partner Darlenis Pérez, the composer is seen taking his mother in a wheelchair alongside other family members.
"Well, everyone, here we are with the whole family. Here’s my mom; a few are missing, but we’re here in Punta Cana," he is heard saying before thanking all his followers for the lovely messages they left after learning about this reunion between mother and son.
In a previous video, Descemer shared the moment when he, filled with emotion, kissed his mother after many long years that his political views regarding the dictatorship had prevented him from traveling to the island.
On one occasion, the artist mentioned that what he regretted most about discussing politics was the inability to go to Cuba to see his sick mother.
