With the Los Angeles Dodgers' victory over the New York Yankees, Andy Pagés made history by becoming the third Cuban player to win the World Series in his debut season in Major League Baseball (MLB).

The central gardener joined the legendary Bárbaro Garbey and Orlando "El Duque" Hernández, who also won the championship in their first year in the "Big Show."

According to journalist Francys Romero on Facebook, Garbey won the ring with the Detroit Tigers in 1984, while "El Duque" played a key role in the Yankees' success in 1998.

It is worth noting that Pagés, at only 23 years old, started the season in Triple A, but his outstanding performances caught attention, leading to his promotion to MLB, where he stayed on the roster for the crucial playoff.

On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers claimed their eighth World Series championship in history (1955, '59, '63, '65, '81, '88, 2020, 2024) after defeating the New York team 7-6, sealing a 4-1 victory in the final phase of the season.

The first baseman Freddie Freeman was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2024 World Series after hitting home runs in the first four games—bringing his total to six when including his previous appearance in the playoffs—among other key hits at crucial moments.

In fact, in the last game, Freeman contributed a two-run single and tied the World Series record with 12 RBIs, set by Bobby Richardson over seven games in 1960.

In contrast, the New York Yankees have yet to claim another title since they expanded their record collection to 27 championships in 2009, although they remain firmly at the top as the all-time leading winners.
