Video of the rehabilitation of a young Cuban assaulted in Holguín: "He does not give up."

The young man's father revealed that they spoke with the director of the hospital, and he provided another refrigerator and reinforced the diet.

Lester Domínguez's father, the young Cuban who was violently attacked with a machete in March of last year in Holguín, shared a video of his son's rehabilitation at the Julio Díaz Hospital in Havana.

The video shared on Facebook shows the boy doing exercises with his neck and torso. It also shows how he still cannot get up by himself from a lying down to a sitting position, despite his efforts.

His father, Dennis Domínguez, assures that the boy does not give up and continues to give his best to achieve improvement.

"He feels very pleased with the care provided at that hospital; they spoke with the director and arranged for another refrigerator, and they reinforced his diet," he revealed.

"As for leg and arm movements, he's doing well; we need to keep working on the trunk," he explained.

Lester has not been able to walk since the violent assault he suffered over a year and a half ago.

His physiotherapists have focused on working on his chest, abdomen, and limbs, but the young man's recovery is slow.

"Lester has an incomplete C5 spinal injury. (...) Where we need to focus more is on the trunk; the hand and leg are progressing very well," Dennis noted, emphasizing that his son is lacking some weight.

The boy started a new treatment at the Julio Díaz hospital in July, right on his birthday.

Weeks later, Lester sent a message to all CiberCuba followers, stating that he was feeling better, that his mood and health were good, and he thanked everyone for keeping up with his progress.

"At the Julito Díaz hospital, I am making considerable progress. I can move my knees, legs, and ankles much better now. I am gaining strength in my spine, shoulders, arms, and even in my hands. I've seen a significant improvement here, and my health is better. I feel very good and I am happy. The care here is excellent. My rehabilitator is very skilled, and with occupational therapy, ozone treatment, and breathing exercises, I have improved a lot. I can't complain," he noted.
