Spanish authorities confirmed more than 150 deaths due to the catastrophic floods caused by the DANA (Isolated High-Level Depression) that affected areas primarily in the Valencian Community and Castilla-La Mancha, as well as in Andalusia.

The latest report this Thursday at 3:00 PM indicated that there are 158 casualties, with 155 from the province of Valencia.

This morning, nine bodies were found in a Valencian village, eight of which (including that of a local police officer) were located in a garage.

On the other hand, the government announced that there are still "many missing," which means the number of deceased could rise further.

According to the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, it is not possible to determine the number of people whose whereabouts are unknown, although she emphasized that it is "many."

More than 1,200 personnel from various military forces are engaged in searching for the missing, evacuating citizens from flooded areas, and cleaning up numerous communities where the water has receded.

Many municipalities are without drinking water, and approximately 75,000 people continue to be without electricity. Another 450 are in shelters.

Images and videos shared online show floods sweeping away cars with people inside or on top, bridges destroyed by the water, and dangerous rescues.

In addition to the numerous homes and businesses affected, thousands of cars are estimated to have been destroyed, along with damage to roads and railways.
