Cuban Jorge Soler, known for his offensive power and notable contributions in Major League Baseball (MLB), has a new destination: the Los Angeles Angels, in an early move during the so-called "offseason."

The Los Angeles franchise and the Atlanta Braves quickly exchanged pieces to complete a trade involving Soler and Griffin Canning, a 28-year-old starting pitcher who did not post good numbers in the recently concluded season, marked by the resounding victory of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

At 32 years old, the Caribbean player will add strength to his new team, which has already welcomed him on the social media platform X, after competing in 2024 with two different teams. He spent the first part of the season with the San Francisco Giants and ended with Atlanta.

The right-handed batter recorded a batting line of .241/.338/.442 with 21 home runs, 34 doubles, and 64 runs batted in over 142 games, according to ESPN statistics.

In his total statistics sheet in the MLB, he has 191 home runs over 11 seasons, including 48 in 2019 with the Kansas City Royals and 36 during his All-Star year with the Miami Marlins in 2023.

He also has a successful postseason record, having won World Series rings with the Chicago Cubs in 2016 and the Braves in 2021, when he was named World Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) after batting .300 and hitting three home runs and a double in Atlanta's six-game victory.

From an economic standpoint, Soler is under contract for two more seasons, with a salary of 16 million per year, after signing a three-year agreement worth 42 million with the Giants.

It is important to note that there was no money involved in this transaction, as it was a player-for-player deal, meaning that the Angels only take on a salary and add it to their roster.
