In a recent security incident in Cuba, a thief was arrested by the police in the province of Holguín after stealing from a group of Cubans returning from San Antonio del Sur, a municipality severely affected by the passage of Hurricane Oscar.
The incident occurred on October 28 in the area of Duani 5, which is part of the municipality of Cueto, according to the official profile associated with the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), Cazador-Cazado.
According to this source, the alleged criminal has been identified as Yuandi Corrales, originally from Palma Soriano in the province of Santiago de Cuba.
It seems that he took advantage of the fact that the victims were traveling at night, and at a moment of distraction, he forced open the trunk of the car they were in, stealing a briefcase and a backpack.
The publication highlighted the collaboration of the residents of the Duani 5 and Marcané communities, who, by offering their support to the authorities, contributed to the swift resolution of the case.
Thanks to this intervention, the stolen goods were fully recovered and returned to the victims, who were traveling from one of the municipalities most affected by Hurricane Oscar.
Hurricane Oscar struck the Guantánamo region intensely on October 20 and 21, leaving devastating consequences in its wake, both in terms of material losses and impacts on the lives of its residents.
This storm, marked by heavy rainfall and strong winds, struck several towns in the province, particularly San Antonio del Sur, a municipality vulnerable due to its geographical location and the area's infrastructural conditions.
Several communities were left cut off and isolated due to damage to roads and bridges, complicating rescue and humanitarian aid efforts.
