They insult and throw mud at the kings of Spain during their visit to Valencia

President Pedro Sánchez was struck in the back with a stick amid shouts of "Sánchez son of a bitch" and "the president of the Government is a dog."

Residents of Paiporta, the Spanish municipality most affected by the DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels), greeted the kings and the head of the central government with boos and insults during their visit to the Valencian town this Sunday.

Both King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were met with mud-throwing during protests by citizens outraged by the situation they continue to face six days after the disaster. The delegation, which also included President Pedro Sánchez and the president of the Valencian Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, was greeted with shouts of "murderers" and "out, out."

Despite the public's rejection, the king decided to stay and spoke with some residents who reported the abandonment they have faced from the authorities this week.

"Felipe, there are people dead out there, man, and they haven't been able to get them out because emergency services didn't come when they were supposed to," a man was heard questioning the king.

"It was known, and no one did anything to stop it," another young man retorted to the monarch, while he tried to calm him down.

Queen Letizia, with her face and hands smeared with mud and visibly affected by the treatment, also spoke with several citizens who were expressing their complaints.

"They didn't warn us, that's why this has happened, so many deaths, so many deaths. They could have warned us about this," a woman said through tears before breaking down sorrowfully. In response, the queen could only embrace her and say, moved, "You're right, you're right. I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry."

A young woman repeated that no one informed the neighbors about the weather phenomenon as it approached the town, and that government aid after the tragedy "arrived too late."

"We are dying, three days until the army arrives. (...) We have no clothes, no food, we have nothing," a third person denounced indignantly.

For his part, President Pedro Sánchez was hit in the back with a stick amid shouts like "Sánchez son of a bitch" and "the president of the Government is a dog."

After the aggression, he left in his car, surrounded by people who were confronting him.

The atmosphere has been extremely tense to the point that the planned visit to the town of Chiva was canceled.
