The monarch will represent Spain at Milei's inauguration ceremony, while the Argentine Foreign Ministry misses the congratulations of President Pedro Sánchez.

The king Philip VI of Spain He arrived in Argentina this Saturday to participate in the inauguration of the president-elect, Javier Miley.

During his stay, he met with Milei and the chancellor appointed by the new Argentine president, Diana Mondino, in the Argentine Foreign Ministry. According to Mondino, during the meeting the challenges facing Argentina were addressed and possible solutions were discussed, seeking Spain's participation in this process.

Mondino highlighted the importance of private activity and recalled that Spain is the second foreign investor in Argentina, expressing hope that this collaboration will be fruitful in solving the problems of the South American country.

The Spanish monarch, who will represent Spain at Milei's inauguration ceremony, was received at the Chancellery by Mondino, where they held a meeting of around 40 minutes, according to Salamanca Tribune.

The meeting, described as "very pleasant" by the future chancellor, involved prominent Spanish representatives, including the Secretary of State for Latin America and the Caribbean, the Spanish ambassador in Argentina and other members of the delegation.

Regarding relations between both countries, the future chancellor stated that they have always been and will continue to be "fraternal", despite the lack of congratulations from the head of the Spanish executive, Pedro Sanchez, towards Milei after his victory in the November 19 elections. However, Mondino minimized this gesture, suggesting that an eventual congratulatory letter could have reached the Foreign Ministry, although he had not yet officially taken office.

It is expected that additional meetings will take place during the king's stay in Buenos Aires, including a meeting with the outgoing president, Alberto Fernandez, in the Casa Rosada, and a meeting with the Spanish community at the Spanish Embassy in Argentina. In addition, Mondino revealed that they are working intensely to close the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur, resolving pending environmental issues.
