Cuban actor Armando Tomey shared a significant moment in his life on social media, as he exercised his right to vote in the United States for the first time.
Residing in Port St. Lucie, Florida, Tomey shared on Instagram the excitement of participating in a democratic electoral process: "It’s thrilling... For the first time, at 69 years old, I’m voting democratically for a president. The No. 47 of the United States," he expressed.
Tomey has been living in Florida for several years and joined the millions of citizens who, on November 5, 2024, decided whom to vote for in a closely contested race between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.
His statement highlights the contrast between his life in Cuba and the opportunity to vote in a democratic system, a right that many Cubans have not had.
The actor, known for his career on the island's television, represents many Cubans in exile who, for the first time, are experiencing the influence on the political direction of their country of residence.
In an emotional message, he expressed the significance of this act in his life and the resonance of his roots by exclaiming, "Oh, my Cuba!" Who do you think he left his vote for, Tomey? If you have a suspicion, feel free to share it in the comments.
