Families raise funds for the funerals of young Cubans who died in a car accident in Texas

Family and friends of Pedro Mesa and Alfredo Peña, two young Cubans who lost their lives in a traffic accident in Houston, are seeking assistance to cover the funeral expenses.

The families and friends of the young Cubans Pedro Mesa and Alfredo Peña, who died in a traffic accident in Houston, Texas, last Saturday night, are seeking assistance to cover the expenses of their respective funerals.

Both families opened accounts on the GoFundMe platform to raise funds to cover funeral expenses following the tragic incident that claimed the lives of their loved ones.

"Due to the love and affection from family and close friends, we have created this account in honor of our beloved PEDRI — son, nephew, cousin, partner, and dear friend. Our lives were forever changed on November 2 when Pedrito left us, leaving a deep void in our hearts," reads the fundraising request organized by Miguel Mesa for Pedro's funeral.

"We are devastated by his passing, and any assistance would be a relief amidst this immense pain," emphasizes the family's request for support, heartbroken by the adversity.

Additionally, family and close friends of Alfredo created an account to honor the memory of someone they described as a "son, nephew, cousin, beloved boyfriend, and dear friend."

"November 2 changed our lives forever, taking our Alfre and leaving a deep void," expresses the request on GoFundMe, initiated by Arianna Aguilar Ortiz. "Our hearts are shattered, and your support will be a comfort amid this painful trial."

The young Cubans, from the province of Granma, lost their lives in a multiple-vehicle collision that ended with the car they were traveling in catching fire, on a highway in northeastern Houston, Texas, on Saturday night.

The traffic accident, involving four cars, occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Wallisville Road, near Greens Bayou and Highway 90, in Harris County.

According to information from the county sheriff's office, the young individuals were trapped inside the Honda Accord they were in when it caught fire after the multiple collision. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Vehicle Crimes Division of the Harris County Sheriff's Office is responsible for investigating the accident.

The tragic death of the young Cubans has caused deep distress among their family members, friends, and others close to them.
