The municipality of Güira de Melena, in Artemisa, is one of the areas that suffered the most damage following Hurricane Rafael.
Images shared by the ARTV telecenter from that western Cuban province were described as "devastating."
Fallen trees, sheets of fiber cement on the ground, collapsed structures, and streets littered with debris contribute to a desolate scene that has enveloped the areas affected by the storm since this morning.
Facebook user Yaneidis Córdova Escobar also shared photographs of the destruction caused by Rafael in Güira de Melena.
Electrical transformers on the ground, collapsed walls, roof collapses, broken windows and doors were part of the images shared.
The Tricontinental baseball stadium, located in this area, was not spared from the impacts of Rafael in that region, losing part of its coverings.
Photos shared on the “MINFAR Cuba” Facebook profile also highlighted the agricultural losses caused in this municipality.
As it passed through the province of Artemisa, Rafael left a trail of destruction, including significant damage to several hospitals in this western region.
Despite the damage, which is still being assessed, the authorities have not disclosed any loss of human life due to the meteor.
