The Cuban urban music singer Alexander Delgado, of the popular duo Gente de Zona, expressed his desire for justice following the recent extradition of Damián Valdez-Galloso to Miami, the main suspect in the murder of the Cuban reggaeton artist El Taiger, whose real name was José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar.
In his Instagram stories, Alexander shared an old photo of himself alongside El Taiger, showcasing the closeness they once shared.
With heartfelt words, Delgado expressed: “We are one step away from justice. You are greatly missed,” echoing the sense of loss that is impacting the Cuban artistic community and the fans of El Taiger.
Valdez-Galloso, known as "El Narra," was extradited from New York on Wednesday after being captured in Queens on October 29, following more than 20 days on the run.
In Miami, he faces serious charges that include second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and illegal possession of a firearm. According to the police report, Damián allegedly shot El Taiger in his own home, then transported him in his vehicle and left him near Jackson Memorial Hospital, where the reggaeton artist died days later.
The extradition of Valdez-Galloso and the progress in the judicial process have reignited public interest in the case. Miami authorities have reiterated that Valdez-Galloso is solely responsible for the crime. Although the full details of the case have not been disclosed, there are surveillance camera recordings that captured key moments of the crime, which the authorities are still keeping as part of the investigation.
Alexander Delgado and many others within the artistic community have expressed their support for El Taiger's family and hope that this judicial process brings justice for their friend and colleague.
