An air conditioning unit from a cinema in Artemisa was dislodged by the strong winds of Hurricane Rafael and fell onto a nearby house, completely destroying its roof.

The owner of the house, named Anay Cardoso, posted photos on Facebook showing the destruction caused by the condenser unit—the part of the air conditioning system located outside the building—when it collapsed onto her roof.

"This is how my house was left after the air conditioning units from the Juárez cinema in Artemisa fell on the roof, and we are still waiting for the crane," he said.

"Without a home, without water, and by a miracle, my family and I are alive. And zero access to retrieve what I have left, all because of poor work. But I am still waiting for a crane. When I get tired of waiting, there will be consequences..." he warned.

Finally, after many hours of waiting, the authorities sent a tow truck to the site to remove the console, as shown by Telecentro ARTV-Artemisa on their Facebook page, where they shared photos of the process.

The incident caused outrage among Anay's friends and relatives, who lives in the area with her two young children. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Artemisa was the province most affected by the hurricane. Its residents shared on social media the moments of panic, the extent of the destruction, and how the phenomenon put their homes and safety at risk.

The videos highlight the ease with which strong winds tore off zinc and fibercement sheets, which flew dangerously over the buildings. In disbelief, residents filmed the scenes while seeking shelter inside their homes, fearing that one of the sheets would strike their houses or themselves.

The Ministry of the Armed Forces of Cuba (FAR) also released aerial images showing the extent of the damage caused in several municipalities in Artemisa.

The scene was devastating, marked by agricultural losses, the destruction of crop houses, and damage to the roofs of homes and state institutions.
