J Balvin has come to Karol G's defense amid the controversy surrounding their recent collaboration on the song “+57.” Following the release of the track, which features other Colombian reggaeton artists like Maluma, Feid, Ryan Castro, and Blessd, strong criticisms emerged regarding a specific line in the lyrics that was interpreted as an inappropriate reference.
The controversy reached such proportions that even the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, publicly voiced his discontent, and several institutions, such as the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), joined in the chorus of opposition.
In the midst of this situation and after Bichota publicly apologized, J Balvin did not hesitate to show his support for Karol G.
Through his social media, the reggaeton artist recalled the contributions and joys the singer has brought to Colombia and asserted that the current controversy does not diminish her greatness as an artist. “Queen, we are here with you. You have given us so many glories that this does not take away from your greatness. Besides, the matter is ours, so we are here unconditionally,” J Balvin wrote in a message that quickly went viral.
"The little sister won't be a topic of discussion; here it's a different system—if they mess with one of us, they'll mess with all of us... and I'd better not write more because the presidency will come up again," the artist wrote in a comment on a post discussing this controversy.
J Balvin's defense has been in stark contrast to the responses of other artists involved in the song, such as Blessd and Ryan Castro, who took a more defiant tone and encouraged critics to simply "not listen to the song."
On the other hand, Feid, Karol G's partner, simply shared the text she wrote in his stories. "My queen, let's go, let's go," he wrote in the caption.
